It is important to systematically identify the contributing factors in coal mine accidents from a large-scale analysis of accident reports. However, previous scholars have mainly used human analysis methods to define accident-causing factors, leading to incomplete and biased cause checklists due to personal experience and knowledge.
In recent years, the ratio of coal mine accidents has greatly descended in the devel- oped countries such as America, while it still has been high in China [1], [2] and [3].
